The K-Power  Automatic  Trike.

This Trike is based on the running gear from a Rover 114 automatic.

The customer supplied the donor vehicle that way they knew that they are getting a set of mechanical components that they have driven and are happy with.

The specifications of the completed trike are as follows.

Engine - 1400 cc all aluminium overhead cam water cooled 4 cylinder in line.

Fuel system - Single or multipoint injection ( dependant on donor vehicle)

Fuel tank - 5 gallon aluminium mounted on anti vibration mounts low down in the front of the frame.

Transmission - Automatic CVT with first gear hold, reverse and kick down.

The brakes - Dual circuit servo assisted disc brakes all round linked to one pedal with the addition of a pressure proportioning valve.

Hand brake - Lever mounted under dummy fuel tank operating mechanical calliper on one front disc.

Suspension - Rear suspension double wishbone with hydrogas units having built in dampers.

Front - Yamaha TDM front telescopic forks. ( these are standard fitting although we can machine any head stock to take girder, telescopic, leading link or springer forks ) Please note that standard chop springers will not cope with the braking effort or side loads imposed by a trike with correct weight distribution.

The main frame jig allows us set the head stock angle to obtain the correct castor angle to suit the forks used.

Frame - This is manufactured from cold drawn seamless tubing. It is formed on a digitally controlled rotary former bender and welded in the main frame jig.

The frame is powder coated before assembly.

Apart from customer specific one-off parts all brackets and frame components are manufactured from common jigs and tooling.

Body work - The main back body, dummy fuel tank, side panels and front mudguards are manufactured from GRP ( Fibreglass ) for us using our moulds.

The body is pivoted at the rear of the trike, 4 captive screws are used to secure the seat, once this is removed there are 2 captive screws to release the body. All 6 screws are removed using a 6 mm Allen key.

The standard paint finish is base coat and lacquer either plain or metallic.

Specialist paint finishes can be catered for at an extra cost or the customer can take the panels to their favourite auto refinishers.

Switches and Instruments - All controls are mounted on the 1 inch stainless steel handlebars except for the hazard warning light switch and the rear fog light switch both of these are mounted adjacent to the digital speedometer which also incorporates, trip A, trip B, Odometer, Rev counter (digital and analogue ) max. revs, average speed, total time travelled, journey time.

There are also LED warning lights for main beam, indicators and hazards, rear fog light, oil pressure, ignition / charging.

The main riding controls are, Handlebars for steering. Accelerator / throttle is a twist grip on the right hand handlebar. The brakes a pedal operated by the right foot. The automatic gear selector is located on the top of the dummy fuel tank.
